Compleat Angler

Compleat Angler Product Photography

Daryl Gordon Photography was contacted by graphic designer Tony Papadopoulos who needed a professional photographer on the Mornington Peninsula. Tony  needed  photograph a range of stock for his client Complete Angler who was putting together a print brochure.

We had an extensive conversation over the phone about the types of photos that Tony required, he communicated that he needed high resolution images photographed on a plain white background. This is a fairly typical request from most of our clients.

Post Production

I then asked Tony if he needed the images on a screen white background or on the studio white background?

This  an important difference for the client to understand I’ve written a blog about the it HERE.

In this case Tony indicated that he was was happy to have the images presented on a studio white background and that he would take care of the post production.

We then talked about colour reproduction, Will the red or blue colour on the product look the same in the finished photograph? Daryl Gordon Photography has a colour calibrated work flow to ensure that colours are reproduced as accurately as possible.

THE SHOOT

Tony was able to supply us with a previous printed catalogue to give us a guideline on the style of photographs taken before. This helps us to photograph the product from the right point of view, and the set the product up correctly.

There was a diverse range of product to be photographed, from fishing lures, fishing line, lures, backpacks, and rods and reels.

The backpacks and gloves were stuffed with paper to fill them out, reels were photographed in different positions to give our client Tony a choice to work with for his client.

After the original shoot we had a conversation about the images and Tony needed a couple of the fishing rods re-shot to better display some branding. This is all a part of the normal process of product photography communication with our clients is an integral part of the process.

DELIVERY

In this case Tony was working with product ID numbers from his client. To make things easier for Tony we organised the files into separate product ID Folders so that he was able to go straight to the relevant folders when working.

The finished files were uploaded to dropbox where Tony was able to download the files to his desk top. Daryl Gordon Photography keeps the files in in our dropbox account free of charge for 12 months just incase files get lost down the line.

INVOICING

We would typically invoice per image, however in this case as we were supplying Tony with a range of images of the one product, to enable his client to have a range of images to choose from and the fact that Tony was taking care of the post production we invoiced per line item. This is something that we are completely flexible about on a case by case basis.
